EDWIN A. REDFERN, Jr.

Edwin A. Redfern, Jr. (Ed), a Stamford native, is a subject matter expert on work at AARP – from both the employee/job seeker and employer perspectives. He has conducted career workshops and employer training sessions around the country and has been quoted in the media on various aspects of the changing demographics of the workplace, how to leverage the synergies of a multigenerational workforce, and job search strategies for older workers. Ed has a blog on the AARP Water Cooler online community group and contributes to AARP.org and other online discussion groups related to work/career, entrepreneurship, and talent management.

He is also the founder and president of Holistic Aquatics, LLC, a wellness coaching venture based on Ashtanga yoga, the Total Immersion (TI) Swim Instruction method, and Reiki. As a life, career, and wellness coach, he has worked with over 100 clients across the generational span, helping them to navigate their careers within the context of finding their purpose in life.

Previously, Ed was Senior Vice President of Management Consulting for the National Executive Service Corps – a non-profit consulting firm specializing in non-profit ventures. He oversaw strategic planning, organizational development, and financial management consulting engagements for non-profit organizations. Ed also served as Vice President of HR and Business Development for Framesoft, a Swiss-based financial services software company. He played a key role in planning and executing the company’s start-up operations in the US and UK.
 
Ed also spent six years as a management consultant specializing in start-up operations for international clients’ direct investment in the US market and Internet ventures, working on talent planning and development, business development, and marketing engagements. The diversity of organizations Ed has worked for is a hallmark of his extensive career – from the places already mentioned, to organizations like the American Lung Association, The Mingo Group Advertising Agency, MTV Networks, Xerox, AT&T, Digital Equipment Corporation, and International Paper Company.

Ed earned an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Industrial Management with a minor in Quantitative Methods from Purdue University. In addition, he is a certified Total Immersion swim coach, Usui Reiki Master, and an instructor/student of Ashtanga yoga, studying at the KPJ Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India, annually.

Ed has served on the boards of A Better Chance of Wilton, CT and the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southwestern, CT.
