Tom Lopiano has been a dealer for 18 years (with John R. Hansen) as partners in Hansen & Hansen Arms & Antiquities in Southport, CT which was started in 1972. Prior to this he owned and operated Historical Investors for three years. Corporate background includes 9 years with the Xerox Corporation and OCE' van der Grinten, N.V. of the Netherlands for 7 years where he occupied positions from Branch Sales Manager to Region National Account Manager.

In this capacity at Hansen & Hansen he performed hundreds of appraisals per year in the area of collectible firearms, edged weapons and historical memorabilia which are brought to our retail operation and gallery in Southport as well as by appointment. He has appraised/reviewed over 1000 collections during that time and he buys and sells arms and collectibles on a  daily basis. Among his many appraisals was the Civil War collection in the State of Connecticut Museum of History in Hartford, CT (which houses Samuel Colt's personal collection).  This collection was contributed to the Connecticut Historical Society in Hartford.  Tom has donated and sold items to the museum. He has also contributed and sold historical items to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, the Colt Museum in Paterson, NJ, the State of North Carolina Museum of History, the U.S. Cavalry Museum in Ft. Riley, Kansas.

Tom Lopiano is a member of collectors' organizations in Connecticut, New York and the Northeast and also the Texas Gun Collectors organizations (for which he has written articles).   As a published author of over 60 articles in magazines such as Man at Arms, Gun Report, Arms Gazette, the Colt Collectors Association, etc., he considers himself an expert of Civil War "historical arms" and CW arms in general.
